Best-In-Class:
The Minimally Invasive Bone Harvester

From the very beginning, Dr. Marino envisioned a best-in-class MIS bone harvester designed to solve the problems of existing alternatives.

COREX is engineered to help make every aspect of bone harvesting faster and easier than other bone harvesters.

Precision Engineered: The COREX Solution

From the beginning, COREX was conceived and engineered specifically to harvest cancellous bone graft using a minimally invasive technique.

Actuator Handle

Features easy grip to allow necessary leverage, and clear "open/harvest and close/capture" green and red markings for visual clarity.

Patented Removable Trocar Tip

Safely create a cortical opening without skiving. Avoid puncturing past cortical opening with built-in safety stop.

Trocar Removal Tool

Integrated to quickly and easily remove trocar tip.

Harvesting Tip

Bevelled tip ensures device remains within cortical walls. Less aggressive cutting teeth used to fracture cancellous bone.

Capture Mechanism

Ensure retrieval of harvested cancellous bone dowels.

Delivery Tamp

Easily dispense captured bone dowels.

Frequently Asked Questions

C
E
Can I Harvest Enough Autologous Bone Graft for the Procedure?

In most cases, and depending on your patient, you get enough cancellous bone for 1 & 2 Level fusions.

C
E
What if I don’t want to subject my patients to secondary surgical site?

There is clinical evidence suggesting using COREX MIS Bone Harvester significantly reduces if not mitigates the typical secondary surgery site pain associated with a traditional approach.

C
E
I use bone from the lamina and facets which I then morselize.

While using bone has its benefits, using the COREX system will allow you to harvest an unlimited amount of fresh autologous bone with a “multi-pass” capability hence reducing the need for bone filler additives and provided fresh malleable osteogenic, conductive, and inductive autograft (gold standard).

C
E
I don’t want to add additional costs to my procedures.

The cost of COREX is negligible compared to 3ccs of any bone alternative and has 3 reimbursable CPT codes.

C
E
I have been using BMP since fellowship, and don’t want to change.

Understood. However, would reducing cost and assuring proper fusion with fresh autologous bone be worth considering if it were possible?

C
E
I used another system and it was cumbersome!

COREX is an all in one MIS system that harvests, captures and delivers autologous bone with one simple mechanism.

C
E
I have used another system and I find that I cannot harvest enough bone for my surgical needs. Will this do the same?

The COREX all in one system is engineered to be able to make multiple passes to collect as much bone as need using different angled trajectories form the same collection site.

C
E
Will this slow me down? I have used other systems and the sterilization time and configuration slows down the surgery.

The COREX system is an all in one MIS design does not need sterilization or assembly. It comes out of the single use box ready to use.

C
E
When it comes to materials, spine instrumentation is one of our biggest expenses. Will this increase expenditure?

Using the COREX system will reduce if not alleviate the need for bone biologic alternatives. In addition, there are three reimbursable CPT codes.

C
E
How long does it take to harvest with COREX?

When used appropriately, it’s 5 – 7 minutes.

C
E
How long does it take to learn to use COREX?

COREX has a low learning curve. Many surgeons have successful outcome from the first use. it’s reasonable to achieve proficiency within 3 – 5 minutes.
